Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 2.38% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which rose 15.96% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.109 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 13.56% or 0.032 points to end at 0.268 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 11.43% or 0.084 points to 0.819 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr), which lost 7.41% or 0.1200 points to trade at 1.5000 in late trade. Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) declined 5.39% or 0.09 points to end at 1.58 and Kri-Kri Milk (AT:KRIr) shed 4.79% or 0.08 points to 1.59.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 32 and 7 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.22% or 2.80 to $1251.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.99% or 0.88 to hit $43.30 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.99% or 0.91 to trade at $44.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1294, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.7881.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 94.54.
