Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Travel, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 1.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 9.54% or 0.103 points to trade at 1.183 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 7.75% or 0.0440 points to end at 0.6120 and Intralot (AT:INLr) was up 6.61% or 0.039 points to 0.629 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which lost 2.50% or 0.025 points to trade at 0.975 in late trade. Gek Terna (AT:HRMr) declined 1.75% or 0.085 points to end at 4.765 and Coca Cola HBC AG (AT:EEEr) shed 1.60% or 0.4200 points to 25.9100.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 12 and 3 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 5.20 to $1229.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.11% or 0.69 to hit $61.52 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.36 to trade at $71.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1471, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8727.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 95.72.
