Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Transportation & Logistics and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Industrials and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.07%, while the MDAX index declined 0.22%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.12% or 0.520 points to trade at 17.170 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.74% or 0.325 points to end at 19.055 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 1.68% or 3.45 points to 208.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which lost 1.77% or 3.25 points to trade at 180.60 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 1.22% or 1.0900 points to end at 88.6000 and Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) shed 0.87% or 1.15 points to 130.50.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 8.58% to 55.200, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was up 2.83% to settle at 16.00 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which gained 2.15% to close at 68.870.
The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 5.08% to 37.500 in late trade, Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which lost 3.68% to settle at 54.110 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 2.67% to 69.200 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 8.48% to 12.415, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was up 4.18% to settle at 11.090 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 2.53% to close at 47.220.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 5.34% to 4.111 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 3.34% to settle at 24.770 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.52% to 5.292 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 391 to 351 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.18% to 13.11.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.44% or 5.32 to $1221.42 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.49% or 1.60 to hit $47.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.18% or 1.55 to trade at $50.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.0868, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8405.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 99.48.
