Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Retail, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Insurance and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.81%, while the MDAX index gained 0.48%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.14% or 1.500 points to trade at 132.650 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 0.47% or 0.065 points to end at 13.915 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.36% or 0.12 points to 33.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 2.74% or 0.360 points to trade at 12.760 in late trade. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) declined 2.72% or 0.310 points to end at 11.105 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 2.10% or 0.415 points to 19.370.
The top performers on the MDAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which rose 21.75% to 32.55, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was up 5.22% to settle at 48.85 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which gained 2.69% to close at 27.820.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 2.22% to 25.955 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 1.99% to settle at 19.730 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 1.97% to 31.42 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 5.54% to 4.094, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was up 2.28% to settle at 5.349 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which gained 1.43% to close at 7.147.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 6.60% to 33.020 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which lost 2.04% to settle at 43.495 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 2.02% to 3.541 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 469 to 349 and 37 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.92% to 19.65.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.23% or 3.05 to $1332.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.76% or 0.35 to hit $45.59 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.19 to trade at $46.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.1010, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.8400.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 97.14.
