Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Software and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.27%, while the MDAX index added 0.20%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 2.33% or 0.400 points to trade at 17.550 at the close. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) added 1.55% or 1.300 points to end at 85.400 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) was up 1.35% or 1.500 points to 113.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 5.21% or 1.000 points to trade at 18.180 in late trade. Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) declined 3.18% or 3.900 points to end at 118.900 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) shed 2.74% or 1.920 points to 68.100.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 3.91% to 37.355, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 2.06% to settle at 111.400 and Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which gained 2.01% to close at 103.950.
The worst performers were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 1.33% to 68.850 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which lost 1.01% to settle at 37.85 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 0.95% to 37.395 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 4.14% to 12.565, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 2.04% to settle at 7.951 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 1.92% to close at 44.615.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 1.86% to 19.750 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 1.47% to settle at 7.110 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 1.46% to 179.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 384 to 369 and 20 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.01% to 15.96.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.83% or 10.05 to $1218.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $53.80 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.05 to trade at $56.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.25% to 1.0796, while EUR/GBP rose 1.19% to 0.8608.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 99.56.
