Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Media and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Utilities and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.15%, while the MDAX index gained 0.38%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 1.31% or 1.080 points to trade at 83.580 at the close. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) added 0.90% or 0.340 points to end at 38.005 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was up 0.64% or 1.10 points to 172.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 2.14% or 0.360 points to trade at 16.490 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 1.53% or 0.146 points to end at 9.381 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 1.09% or 0.083 points to 7.538.
The top performers on the MDAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which rose 2.47% to 124.45, CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was up 2.34% to settle at 37.815 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 2.03% to close at 70.320.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 1.27% to 49.220 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which lost 1.10% to settle at 85.700 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 0.77% to 65.500 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 1.88% to 233.50, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was up 1.78% to settle at 69.620 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 1.24% to close at 15.095.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 3.08% to 24.225 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 2.79% to settle at 10.985 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.92% to 65.390 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 369 to 366 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.66% to 13.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.72% or 9.07 to $1265.47 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.06% or 0.52 to hit $49.42 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.37 to trade at $51.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.36% to 1.1170, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.8733.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 97.41.
