Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction, Technology and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Software and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.88%, while the MDAX index gained 0.29%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 4.02% or 6.10 points to trade at 158.00 at the close. Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 3.77% or 2.660 points to end at 73.240 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 2.90% or 1.960 points to 69.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which lost 0.69% or 0.60 points to trade at 86.70 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 0.52% or 0.600 points to end at 115.550 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) shed 0.49% or 0.500 points to 101.640.
The top performers on the MDAX were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which rose 6.33% to 11.76, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was up 5.50% to settle at 40.110 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which gained 4.41% to close at 37.380.
The worst performers were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 3.71% to 6.284 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 3.05% to settle at 35.56 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.95% to 67.360 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 4.17% to 111.250, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 1.78% to settle at 29.660 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 1.47% to close at 19.385.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 12.79% to 127.500 in late trade, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which lost 4.55% to settle at 176.200 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.56% to 9.978 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 402 to 297 and 82 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.66% to 13.91 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.60 to $1208.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.31% or 0.22 to hit $70.55 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.62 to trade at $78.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.1745, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8876.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 93.70.
