Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Construction sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Media, Food & Beverages and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.24%, while the MDAX index lost 0.40%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn), which rose 3.90% or 4.30 points to trade at 114.60 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 2.57% or 0.272 points to end at 10.858 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) was up 1.54% or 1.180 points to 77.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 1.68% or 2.92 points to trade at 170.80 in late trade. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 1.68% or 3.25 points to end at 190.35 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) shed 1.47% or 1.55 points to 104.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which rose 3.74% to 50.800, Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was up 3.32% to settle at 108.800 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which gained 1.83% to close at 66.600.
The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 9.26% to 28.2200 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 2.80% to settle at 43.81 and Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 2.68% to 9.002 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 13.80% to 21.240, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was up 10.97% to settle at 36.620 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 4.03% to close at 14.200.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 4.30% to 12.700 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 2.09% to settle at 21.600 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 0.98% to 42.480 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 391 to 298 and 85 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.50% to 14.99.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1313.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.10% or 2.14 to hit $71.20 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.07% or 2.30 to trade at $77.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1853, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 92.92.
