Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Retail sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Software, Chemicals and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.09% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index declined 0.22%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 2.57% or 3.90 points to trade at 155.90 at the close. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) added 1.94% or 0.570 points to end at 29.945 and Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) was up 1.66% or 2.00 points to 122.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which lost 1.90% or 3.60 points to trade at 185.40 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.50% or 1.350 points to end at 88.680 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 1.48% or 0.210 points to 13.950.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which rose 2.64% to 133.95, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was up 2.48% to settle at 65.791 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 1.78% to close at 42.95.
The worst performers were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 2.12% to 84.796 in late trade, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which lost 1.76% to settle at 144.75 and Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which was down 1.68% to 562.55 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 6.89% to 127.200, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 6.69% to settle at 13.400 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 5.60% to close at 42.650.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 1.69% to 98.650 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 1.61% to settle at 16.613 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.49% to 4.363 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 381 to 376 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.62% to 12.23.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.53% or 6.79 to $1278.59 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.35% or 0.19 to hit $54.09 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.21 to trade at $60.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1636, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.8809.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 94.45.
