Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Media and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.05%, while the MDAX index lost 0.71%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which rose 1.45% or 0.880 points to trade at 61.650 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) added 1.12% or 0.790 points to end at 71.440 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was up 0.86% or 0.680 points to 79.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which lost 0.80% or 1.55 points to trade at 192.80 in late trade. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 0.79% or 0.260 points to end at 32.550 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) shed 0.78% or 0.700 points to 88.580.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which rose 3.00% to 80.340, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was up 2.43% to settle at 72.110 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 2.34% to close at 74.930.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 10.21% to 3.80 in late trade, CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which lost 3.20% to settle at 36.000 and Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 2.18% to 9.161 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 2.18% to 7.765, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 2.02% to settle at 31.33 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 0.89% to close at 15.860.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.93% to 57.880 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which lost 1.69% to settle at 22.980 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 1.67% to 89.570 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 414 to 349 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.65% to 15.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.75 to $1292.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.42% or 1.17 to hit $47.24 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.52% or 0.80 to trade at $51.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1803, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.9222.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 93.18.
