Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Media, Insurance and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Transportation & Logistics and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.09%, while the MDAX index fell 0.48%, and the TecDAX index added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which rose 2.69% or 0.785 points to trade at 29.960 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 0.78% or 1.10 points to end at 142.80 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was up 0.63% or 1.15 points to 185.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 2.87% or 0.690 points to trade at 23.365 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 1.61% or 0.59 points to end at 35.97 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) shed 1.28% or 1.170 points to 90.530.
The top performers on the MDAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which rose 1.44% to 22.505, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 1.35% to settle at 3.75 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which gained 1.05% to close at 23.660.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 2.53% to 56.590 in late trade, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which lost 2.44% to settle at 38.420 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 2.23% to 78.49 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which rose 4.40% to 29.195, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 4.02% to settle at 10.620 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 1.80% to close at 6.057.
The worst performers were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 3.73% to 262.90 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which lost 2.72% to settle at 134.00 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 2.38% to 12.895 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 440 to 307 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.46% to 12.10.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.29% or 3.69 to $1276.89 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.99% or 1.52 to hit $49.27 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.79% or 1.59 to trade at $55.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1730, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8987.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 93.69.
