Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Media and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.22% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index declined 1.23%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which fell 0.34% or 0.350 points to trade at 102.000 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) fell 0.59% or 0.490 points to end at 82.270 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was down 0.59% or 0.185 points to 31.160 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 2.91% or 0.238 points to trade at 7.928 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 2.55% or 4.950 points to end at 189.150 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) shed 2.18% or 3.200 points to 143.800.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which rose 0.03% to 63.160, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 36.905 and Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which lost 0.08% to close at 65.470.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 3.34% to 51.500 in late trade, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which lost 3.29% to settle at 15.02 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 3.17% to 37.410 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which rose 8.33% to 0.039, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 0.69% to settle at 37.45 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which gained 0.61% to close at 8.721.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 4.38% to 40.290 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 4.18% to settle at 48.515 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 2.79% to 37.680 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 476 to 280 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.79% to 16.55.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.83% or 10.15 to $1230.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.10% or 0.59 to hit $53.24 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.39% or 0.79 to trade at $56.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.0732, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8626.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 100.09.
