Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.59%, while the MDAX index lost 1.05%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which rose 1.02% or 0.420 points to trade at 41.520 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 0.70% or 0.125 points to end at 17.860 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.23% or 0.07 points to 30.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 2.34% or 0.150 points to trade at 6.260 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 2.18% or 0.290 points to end at 12.995 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) shed 2.16% or 2.600 points to 117.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which rose 1.84% to 108.000, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was up 1.29% to settle at 47.660 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which gained 1.17% to close at 47.590.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 2.73% to 52.770 in late trade, Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which lost 2.61% to settle at 95.020 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 2.57% to 29.365 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 1.77% to 14.400, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 1.39% to settle at 46.235 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 0.14% to close at 35.400.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 4.84% to 36.675 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 4.69% to settle at 3.515 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 3.98% to 22.44 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 692 to 199 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.46% to 32.41 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.75% or 22.55 to $1310.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.50% or 1.68 to hit $46.33 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.55% or 1.74 to trade at $47.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.87% to 1.1162, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7914.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 95.26.
