Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.31%, while the MDAX index fell 0.28%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 1.86% or 0.300 points to trade at 16.395 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) added 0.46% or 0.55 points to end at 121.10 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) was up 0.43% or 0.75 points to 176.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 1.06% or 0.215 points to trade at 20.035 in late trade. Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) declined 1.02% or 1.25 points to end at 121.85 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) shed 0.95% or 0.150 points to 15.675.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which rose 2.21% to 63.880, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 0.77% to settle at 4.57 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which gained 0.69% to close at 28.510.
The worst performers were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 2.17% to 52.280 in late trade, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which lost 1.93% to settle at 12.21 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 1.77% to 45.820 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 7.09% to 61.470, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 2.05% to settle at 13.726 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 1.76% to close at 11.550.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 3.52% to 89.640 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 3.26% to settle at 60.890 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 3.25% to 36.22 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 422 to 335 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.09% to 14.10.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.39% or 4.71 to $1223.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $47.12 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $49.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1344, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8780.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 96.01.
