Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Insurance, Media and Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.53%, while the MDAX index declined 1.29%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 0.89% or 0.35 points to trade at 39.70 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 0.48% or 0.110 points to end at 22.840 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 0.12% or 0.080 points to 67.080 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 4.60% or 0.473 points to trade at 9.817 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 4.06% or 0.379 points to end at 8.962 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) shed 3.70% or 6.95 points to 181.00.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which rose 0.94% to 6.975, Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which was up 0.44% to settle at 23.00 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which gained 0.28% to close at 17.940.
The worst performers were Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was down 4.95% to 60.550 in late trade, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which lost 4.57% to settle at 34.240 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.29% to 52.600 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 0.88% to 20.700, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 0.45% to settle at 13.500 and SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which lost 0.15% to close at 32.50.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 5.47% to 131.300 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 5.03% to settle at 13.790 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 4.77% to 39.100 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 549 to 180 and 59 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.61% to 19.15 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1303.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.84% or 1.93 to hit $65.95 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.59 to trade at $74.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.64% to 1.1551, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8714.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 94.74.
