Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Transportation & Logistics and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.40% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index declined 0.11%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which rose 1.24% or 1.400 points to trade at 114.400 at the close. Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 0.57% or 0.440 points to end at 77.940 and Linde AG 1 (DE:LIN1) was up 0.38% or 0.7500 points to 196.0000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 6.92% or 0.682 points to trade at 9.180 in late trade. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) declined 2.76% or 5.00 points to end at 176.30 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 2.66% or 1.800 points to 65.760.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which rose 2.08% to 157.20, Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which was up 1.92% to settle at 24.36 and Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which gained 1.80% to close at 62.100.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 3.02% to 51.460 in late trade, Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which lost 2.46% to settle at 11.5200 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which was down 2.34% to 66.650 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which rose 4.39% to 34.50, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 3.71% to settle at 10.480 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 2.25% to close at 21.800.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 5.85% to 51.500 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 3.06% to settle at 13.620 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 2.52% to 89.050 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 431 to 274 and 84 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.36% to 17.70.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1300.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.80% or 1.23 to hit $66.98 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.37 to trade at $78.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1671, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8777.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 94.05.
