Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Software sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.39%, while the MDAX index fell 0.19%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which rose 0.50% or 0.440 points to trade at 87.720 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 0.13% or 0.05 points to end at 38.75 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 0.05% or 0.006 points to 11.926 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 2.27% or 0.292 points to trade at 12.550 in late trade. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) declined 2.26% or 2.50 points to end at 107.90 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 2.16% or 0.500 points to 22.700.
The top performers on the MDAX were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which rose 2.44% to 36.160, Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which was up 1.94% to settle at 35.820 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which gained 1.66% to close at 15.900.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 4.44% to 0.26 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 2.48% to settle at 14.745 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was down 2.34% to 23.400 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 2.18% to 56.350, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 2.09% to settle at 85.650 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 1.02% to close at 118.300.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 10.90% to 31.540 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 8.73% to settle at 17.628 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 4.03% to 16.650 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 499 to 209 and 86 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 17.78% to 18.18.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.41% or 5.40 to $1317.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.46% or 0.29 to hit $62.12 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.13 to trade at $66.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.2338, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8787.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 89.43.
