Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Resources and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.22%, while the MDAX index fell 1.12%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 0.83% or 0.079 points to trade at 9.560 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) added 0.51% or 0.500 points to end at 99.300 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 0.21% or 0.180 points to 86.460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which lost 2.52% or 4.90 points to trade at 189.40 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 2.41% or 3.76 points to end at 152.30 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 2.23% or 0.510 points to 22.390.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which rose 5.88% to 72.000, Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) which was up 2.95% to settle at 43.30 and Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which gained 1.34% to close at 60.650.
The worst performers were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 14.05% to 7.435 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which lost 3.58% to settle at 103.550 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 2.86% to 31.920 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 0.97% to 12.520, Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) which was down 0.14% to settle at 36.21 and Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which lost 0.51% to close at 31.410.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 6.04% to 130.700 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 5.26% to settle at 12.117 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 4.35% to 18.900 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 567 to 164 and 60 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.01% to 16.64.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.19% or 2.40 to $1277.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.90% or 1.25 to hit $64.44 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.86% or 0.65 to trade at $74.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.1571, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8787.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 94.74.
