Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.46%, while the MDAX index fell 0.26%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 1.09% or 0.660 points to trade at 61.420 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) added 0.51% or 0.145 points to end at 28.770 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.38% or 0.15 points to 39.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 2.12% or 0.340 points to trade at 15.710 in late trade. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) declined 1.84% or 1.750 points to end at 93.350 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 1.84% or 0.455 points to 24.260.
The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which rose 2.05% to 40.870, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was up 1.49% to settle at 12.575 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 1.10% to close at 43.33.
The worst performers were Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 2.10% to 30.805 in late trade, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which lost 1.96% to settle at 61.910 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 1.63% to 37.160 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 7.24% to 46.79, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 1.78% to settle at 34.605 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 1.60% to close at 88.380.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 5.60% to 12.480 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 5.38% to settle at 71.040 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 5.27% to 165.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 447 to 309 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.34% to 14.08.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.64% or 8.29 to $1295.59 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.65% or 0.97 to hit $57.98 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $63.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1916, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8936.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 92.72.
