Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.40%, while the MDAX index lost 0.80%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.60% or 2.90 points to trade at 183.90 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 0.80% or 0.72 points to end at 90.51 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.73% or 0.28 points to 39.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 2.66% or 0.600 points to trade at 21.925 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 1.56% or 0.160 points to end at 10.095 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) shed 1.33% or 2.60 points to 192.80.
The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which rose 2.60% to 36.535, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was up 1.53% to settle at 60.900 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which gained 1.23% to close at 88.000.
The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 5.37% to 36.465 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 3.86% to settle at 3.24 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 3.19% to 20.615 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 8.13% to 51.860, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was up 4.74% to settle at 30.920 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 4.39% to close at 7.700.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 12.06% to 78.260 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 12.02% to settle at 13.725 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 4.75% to 13.935 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 501 to 266 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.04% to 14.05.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.34% or 4.27 to $1278.47 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $56.81 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.26 to trade at $63.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1657, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.8900.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 94.48.
