Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Telecoms and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.35%, while the MDAX index lost 0.32%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 0.95% or 0.067 points to trade at 7.145 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 0.76% or 0.600 points to end at 79.490 and Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) was up 0.55% or 0.45 points to 81.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 3.72% or 0.665 points to trade at 17.195 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 2.27% or 0.194 points to end at 8.356 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 1.57% or 0.240 points to 15.050.
The top performers on the MDAX were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which rose 1.55% to 29.890, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was up 1.37% to settle at 74.760 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which gained 1.12% to close at 104.100.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 4.71% to 64.800 in late trade, Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which lost 3.70% to settle at 32.900 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 2.98% to 22.125 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 3.21% to 54.000, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 2.68% to settle at 105.30 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 1.79% to close at 39.45.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.61% to 13.610 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 1.91% to settle at 10.573 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 1.43% to 12.065 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 398 to 349 and 20 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 12.63% to 12.42.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.22% or 2.75 to $1232.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.51% or 0.25 to hit $49.06 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $51.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.0740, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8697.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 100.18.
