Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Insurance and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.39% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 1.93%, and the TecDAX index added 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which rose 6.02% or 5.480 points to trade at 96.440 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) added 4.21% or 7.85 points to end at 194.25 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) was up 3.97% or 4.60 points to 120.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which lost 1.75% or 2.00 points to trade at 112.45 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 0.93% or 0.135 points to end at 14.400 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 0.62% or 0.075 points to 12.085.
The top performers on the MDAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which rose 5.38% to 144.05, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was up 4.54% to settle at 68.20 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which gained 4.04% to close at 130.00.
The worst performers were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 0.30% to 13.49 in late trade, Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which gained 0.18% to settle at 110.000 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was up 0.24% to 82.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 5.83% to 82.760, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 2.60% to settle at 118.400 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which gained 2.55% to close at 138.95.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 8.29% to 16.825 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 1.31% to settle at 16.162 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 1.25% to 13.020 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 510 to 221 and 48 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 13.10% to 12.25.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.70 to $1274.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.50% or 0.26 to hit $52.44 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.19 to trade at $58.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.02% to 1.1692, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.8882.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.82% at 94.30.
