Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Food & Beverages and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.39% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 1.31%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which rose 4.07% or 6.90 points to trade at 176.40 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 3.24% or 0.330 points to end at 10.500 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 2.77% or 0.370 points to 13.710 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which lost 0.28% or 0.180 points to trade at 64.650 in late trade. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 0.18% or 0.17 points to end at 96.00 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) gained 0.27% or 0.075 points to 27.790.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which rose 5.38% to 101.85, Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which was up 3.14% to settle at 34.370 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which gained 3.04% to close at 92.790.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 0.99% to 72.350 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 0.78% to settle at 4.19 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 0.12% to 12.31 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 11.65% to 10.830, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 7.93% to settle at 18.249 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 4.15% to close at 5.374.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 2.04% to 35.610 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.39% to settle at 9.509 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 0.85% to 133.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 583 to 176 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 10.06% to 13.75 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.04% or 14.04 to $1337.16 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.35% or 0.64 to hit $48.12 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.05 to trade at $53.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.64% to 1.1959, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.9080.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 91.86.
