Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.02% to hit a new 3-month high, while the MDAX index gained 0.56%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG 1 (DE:LIN1), which rose 3.85% or 6.8500 points to trade at 184.7000 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.62% or 0.580 points to end at 22.730 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) was up 2.49% or 0.610 points to 25.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Covestro AG (DE:1COV), which lost 2.54% or 1.940 points to trade at 74.540 in late trade. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) declined 0.91% or 1.75 points to end at 189.95 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) shed 0.65% or 0.600 points to 91.560.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which rose 7.90% to 66.360, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was up 5.50% to settle at 115.100 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 1.81% to close at 71.86.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 2.00% to 73.460 in late trade, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which lost 1.69% to settle at 34.860 and Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 1.66% to 9.102 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 10.18% to 153.75, Software AG (DE:SOWG) which was up 2.33% to settle at 42.200 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 2.26% to close at 142.650.
The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 8.09% to 43.200 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which lost 5.27% to settle at 24.990 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 2.91% to 21.380 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 457 to 227 and 83 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.48% to 14.96.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.05% or 0.70 to $1312.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.05% or 1.40 to hit $69.83 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.74% or 1.28 to trade at $74.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1942, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8825.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 92.51.
