Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.60%, while the MDAX index added 0.19%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 3.45% or 0.322 points to trade at 9.646 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 2.32% or 0.310 points to end at 13.645 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was up 2.22% or 1.910 points to 87.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which lost 3.08% or 0.960 points to trade at 30.210 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.49% or 1.750 points to end at 115.700 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 1.17% or 2.60 points to 219.30.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which rose 2.66% to 71.020, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (DE:FPEG_p) which was up 1.90% to settle at 46.020 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which gained 1.54% to close at 23.060.
The worst performers were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 2.11% to 8.250 in late trade, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which lost 1.85% to settle at 24.3900 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which was down 1.42% to 7.295 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 4.21% to 44.040, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 4.13% to settle at 20.680 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 4.08% to close at 62.500.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 3.49% to 43.140 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 2.94% to settle at 10.740 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 0.32% to 154.10 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 432 to 276 and 81 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.63% to 15.22.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.16% or 2.10 to $1304.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.68% or 0.45 to hit $66.19 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.10 to trade at $76.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1793, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8816.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 93.53.
