Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Retail and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.55% to hit a new 6-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.31%, and the TecDAX index added 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 8.15% or 18.65 points to trade at 247.55 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 1.41% or 1.060 points to end at 76.320 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 1.34% or 0.680 points to 51.430 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which lost 2.09% or 0.450 points to trade at 21.080 in late trade. Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) declined 1.08% or 1.400 points to end at 128.750 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 0.97% or 0.120 points to 12.270.
The top performers on the MDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 5.87% to 89.760, Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which was up 3.97% to settle at 24.60 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 3.56% to close at 22.710.
The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 7.18% to 19.7150 in late trade, RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which lost 6.90% to settle at 47.760 and Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which was down 3.29% to 32.320 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 6.15% to 354.00, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 5.87% to settle at 89.760 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 3.56% to close at 22.710.
The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 7.07% to 19.738 in late trade, Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which lost 3.29% to settle at 32.320 and SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which was down 2.41% to 9.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 416 to 274 and 90 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.61% to 14.06.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.71% or 9.05 to $1281.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.60% or 0.37 to hit $62.18 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.44 to trade at $71.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1196, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.8514.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 97.282.
