Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Consumer & Cyclical and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.46%, while the MDAX index gained 0.59%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which rose 2.02% or 0.530 points to trade at 26.725 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) added 1.66% or 1.520 points to end at 93.040 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 1.58% or 1.530 points to 98.460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which lost 1.41% or 2.65 points to trade at 185.70 in late trade. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) declined 0.86% or 0.740 points to end at 84.950 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 0.55% or 0.340 points to 61.080.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which rose 3.07% to 68.44, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was up 2.58% to settle at 17.485 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which gained 1.75% to close at 3.37.
The worst performers were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was down 1.27% to 53.650 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which lost 0.89% to settle at 36.655 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (DE:FPEG_p) which was down 0.73% to 44.490 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 9.06% to 6.271, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 2.36% to settle at 12.775 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 2.04% to close at 63.930.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 3.59% to 13.575 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 1.49% to settle at 11.550 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.35% to 77.390 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 468 to 282 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.94% to 13.52.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1295.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.53% or 0.31 to hit $57.80 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.38 to trade at $63.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1878, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8974.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 93.07.
