Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.09% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.24%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.53%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 1.23% or 1.45 points to trade at 119.60 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) added 0.98% or 0.245 points to end at 25.285 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.95% or 0.35 points to 37.12 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which lost 1.59% or 2.80 points to trade at 173.65 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 1.20% or 1.030 points to end at 84.660 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) shed 1.10% or 0.330 points to 29.750.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which rose 3.46% to 144.85, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was up 2.65% to settle at 41.095 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 2.60% to close at 116.400.

The worst performers were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 1.11% to 72.090 in late trade, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which lost 1.10% to settle at 66.570 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 0.63% to 77.010 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 4.57% to 21.645, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 3.49% to settle at 114.300 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which gained 3.24% to close at 13.235.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 3.63% to 11.020 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 2.84% to settle at 81.500 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 2.10% to 18.450 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 408 to 349 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.04% to 11.21 a new 6-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.21 to $1305.81 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.86% or 0.44 to hit $51.89 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.07% or 0.61 to trade at $57.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1809, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8891.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 92.98.
