Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Media and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.58%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA), which rose 1.66% or 0.055 points to trade at 3.369 at the close. Meanwhile, Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD) added 0.58% or 0.30 points to end at 52.22 and Cap Gemini SA (PARIS:CAPP) was up 0.36% or 0.32 points to 90.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP), which fell 5.14% or 0.97 points to trade at 17.89 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) declined 2.52% or 0.20 points to end at 7.86 and Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) was down 2.46% or 2.30 points to 91.18.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Nexity (PARIS:NEXI) which rose 8.89% to 41.32, Thales (PARIS:TCFP) which was up 7.45% to settle at 61.00 and Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which gained 3.82% to close at 37.735.
The worst performers were SES (PARIS:SESFd) which was down 6.55% to 29.09 in late trade, Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) which lost 5.14% to settle at 17.89 and Faurecia (PARIS:EPED) which was down 4.22% to 35.82 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 479 to 345 and 41 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.52% or 0.20 to 7.86. Shares in Cap Gemini SA (PARIS:CAPP) rose to 5-year highs; rising 0.36% or 0.32 to 90.15. Shares in Nexity (PARIS:NEXI) rose to 5-year highs; up 8.89% or 3.38 to 41.32. Shares in Thales (PARIS:TCFP) rose to all time highs; rising 7.45% or 4.23 to 61.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.84% to 17.74.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.90% or 9.90 to $1084.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.95% or 0.46 to hit $47.99 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 0.84 to trade at $54.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0975, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.7076.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 97.40.
