Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.06%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 2.72% or 3.20 points to trade at 120.85 at the close. Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) added 1.78% or 0.90 points to end at 51.40 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was up 1.23% or 2.80 points to 230.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.02% or 0.218 points to trade at 7.001 in late trade. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) declined 2.58% or 1.07 points to end at 40.52 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) shed 1.84% or 0.35 points to 18.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 3.68% to 8.22, Zodiac Aerospace (PA:ZODC) which was up 3.17% to settle at 22.94 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) which gained 2.72% to close at 120.85.
The worst performers were Nexans (PA:NEXS) which was down 4.48% to 49.34 in late trade, Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which lost 3.82% to settle at 39.530 and Alten (PA:LTEN) which was down 3.32% to 76.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 318 to 309 and 86 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.13% to 18.64.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.54% or 6.84 to $1250.16 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.23% or 0.11 to hit $47.55 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $50.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0917, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8456.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 98.94.
