Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.56%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 0.86% or 0.12 points to trade at 13.44 at the close. L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) added 0.81% or 1.70 points to end at 211.80 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 0.37% or 0.40 points to 108.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which lost 8.78% or 5.12 points to trade at 53.18 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 3.00% or 0.795 points to end at 25.690 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) shed 2.22% or 1.42 points to 62.42.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Iliad (PA:ILD) which rose 7.44% to 144.45, Rubis SCA (PA:RUBF) which was up 2.81% to settle at 49.08 and ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which gained 2.67% to close at 15.40.
The worst performers were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which was down 8.78% to 53.18 in late trade, Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which lost 4.33% to settle at 30.940 and Eramet (PA:ERMT) which was down 3.15% to 107.60 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 350 to 211 and 94 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.11% to 12.05.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.93% or 11.40 to $1216.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.24% or 0.16 to hit $67.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.40 to trade at $72.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1607, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.8937.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 95.24.
