Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.48%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 2.03% or 0.95 points to trade at 47.85 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 1.78% or 0.30 points to end at 17.45 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was up 1.76% or 0.40 points to 22.81 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which lost 4.07% or 3.30 points to trade at 77.70 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 2.52% or 0.394 points to end at 15.214 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) shed 2.45% or 0.395 points to 15.720.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Coface (PA:COFA) which rose 2.21% to 9.47, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which was up 2.03% to settle at 47.85 and Groupe FNAC (PA:FNAC) which gained 2.01% to close at 68.400.
The worst performers were Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) which was down 4.07% to 77.70 in late trade, Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which lost 3.06% to settle at 20.26 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which was down 3.03% to 23.72 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 326 to 243 and 90 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.95% to 12.45.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.33% or 18.95 to $1401.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $57.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.42% or 0.90 to trade at $64.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.1220, while EUR/GBP rose 0.00% to 0.8969.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 96.912.
