Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.37%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.31% or 0.17 points to trade at 13.55 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 1.04% or 0.14 points to end at 13.65 and Sodexo (PA:EXHO) was up 0.94% or 0.84 points to 90.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which lost 6.74% or 8.30 points to trade at 114.85 in late trade. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 2.32% or 0.470 points to end at 19.800 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) shed 1.60% or 3.40 points to 208.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which rose 3.72% to 53.000, Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which was up 2.04% to settle at 32.000 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) which gained 1.31% to close at 13.55.
The worst performers were Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was down 6.74% to 114.85 in late trade, Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which lost 3.66% to settle at 74.28 and SES (PA:SESFd) which was down 3.56% to 15.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 310 to 241 and 110 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.08% to 13.53.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.69% or 8.50 to $1222.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.63% or 0.43 to hit $67.83 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.19 to trade at $72.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1695, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8928.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 94.41.
