Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.35%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI), which rose 1.27% or 1.55 points to trade at 124.00 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 1.09% or 0.58 points to end at 53.76 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was up 0.87% or 1.20 points to 138.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which lost 3.31% or 1.63 points to trade at 47.57 in late trade. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 2.41% or 0.51 points to end at 20.67 and Sodexo (PA:EXHO) shed 2.12% or 1.94 points to 89.62.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Trigano (PA:TRIA) which rose 3.47% to 119.30, Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which was up 2.77% to settle at 118.80 and Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which gained 1.85% to close at 77.10.
The worst performers were Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was down 7.36% to 58.62 in late trade, Plastic Omnium (PA:PLOF) which lost 5.15% to settle at 36.12 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was down 3.55% to 73.300 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 317 to 239 and 102 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.89% to 12.64.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.44% or 5.40 to $1229.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $68.27 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.26 to trade at $72.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1702, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8927.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 94.41.
