Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.28%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI), which rose 1.26% or 0.28 points to trade at 22.58 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 0.89% or 0.19 points to end at 21.62 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was up 0.85% or 0.40 points to 47.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which lost 1.89% or 1.45 points to trade at 75.10 in late trade. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 1.60% or 0.22 points to end at 13.51 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) shed 1.56% or 0.228 points to 14.422.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ingenico Group SA (PA:INGC) which rose 2.42% to 77.12, Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) which was up 2.11% to settle at 29.07 and Technicolor (PA:TCH) which gained 2.03% to close at 0.829.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 3.29% to 24.66 in late trade, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which lost 2.66% to settle at 36.17 and Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which was down 2.59% to 20.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 300 to 253 and 96 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.81% to 11.72.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.01% or 0.15 to $1412.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $60.41 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.31 to trade at $66.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1255, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8989.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 96.692.
