Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.76%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.59% or 0.250 points to trade at 4.719 at the close. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) added 3.87% or 1.46 points to end at 39.10 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) was up 3.65% or 1.90 points to 54.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP), which added 0.47% or 0.40 points to trade at 85.80 in late trade. Danone SA (PA:DANO) added 0.50% or 0.32 points to end at 64.36 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) gained 0.56% or 0.56 points to 99.73.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which rose 6.42% to 16.495, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was up 5.59% to settle at 4.719 and Aperam (AS:APAM) which gained 4.47% to close at 32.58.
The worst performers were Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which was down 9.38% to 26.28 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications (PA:ETL) which lost 1.21% to settle at 16.80 and Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which was down 0.80% to 16.07 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 507 to 145 and 113 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.64% to 21.30 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.04% or 0.60 to $1359.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.21% or 0.55 to hit $44.86 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.55 to trade at $46.21 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1049, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8517.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 96.66.
