Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.29%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 3.11% or 0.43 points to trade at 14.41 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 3.00% or 2.25 points to end at 77.15 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 1.78% or 0.33 points to 18.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which lost 1.17% or 1.50 points to trade at 126.20 in late trade. Sodexo (PA:EXHO) declined 0.73% or 0.73 points to end at 99.17 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) shed 0.51% or 0.29 points to 56.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 3.69% to 9.66, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) which was up 3.11% to settle at 14.41 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) which gained 3.00% to close at 77.15.
The worst performers were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 5.12% to 72.950 in late trade, Neopost (PA:NPOS) which lost 3.07% to settle at 34.71 and Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which was down 2.51% to 33.93 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 308 to 267 and 97 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.10% to 14.95.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.86 to $1342.64 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.17% or 0.57 to hit $49.23 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.27% or 0.68 to trade at $54.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1927, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.9135.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.11.
