Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.15%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which rose 2.90% or 1.28 points to trade at 45.38 at the close. L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) added 1.85% or 3.25 points to end at 178.70 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 1.48% or 0.20 points to 14.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which lost 11.13% or 6.86 points to trade at 54.80 in late trade. Atos SE (PA:ATOS) declined 3.08% or 3.52 points to end at 110.49 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) shed 1.23% or 0.350 points to 28.190.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 3.06% to 10.61, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) which was up 2.90% to settle at 45.38 and BIC (PA:BICP) which gained 2.58% to close at 85.40.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 11.13% to 54.80 in late trade, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which lost 5.60% to settle at 36.760 and Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which was down 5.14% to 73.04 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 295 to 288 and 94 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.02% to 16.55.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.13% or 1.70 to $1331.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.31% or 0.82 to hit $63.59 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.17% or 0.78 to trade at $67.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.2301, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8802.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 89.76.
