Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.03%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 3.45% or 0.57 points to trade at 17.08 at the close. Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) added 1.46% or 1.60 points to end at 111.50 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was up 1.21% or 0.94 points to 78.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI), which lost 1.57% or 1.65 points to trade at 103.25 in late trade. Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) declined 0.86% or 0.85 points to end at 97.78 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) shed 0.82% or 0.38 points to 45.26.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which rose 3.45% to 17.08, Vicat (PA:VCTP) which was up 2.79% to settle at 63.00 and Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which gained 1.76% to close at 49.99.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 4.77% to 25.160 in late trade, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which lost 2.58% to settle at 70.970 and Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which was down 2.19% to 22.11 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 307 to 301 and 88 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.18% to 11.96.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.55% or 7.27 to $1304.23 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.59% or 0.31 to hit $51.91 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.20% or 0.70 to trade at $57.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.1794, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8771.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 92.83.
