Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, IT and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Seabridge Gold Inc . (TSX:SEA), which rose 6.43% or 0.97 points to trade at 16.06 at the close. Dundee Precious Metals Inc (TSX:DPM) added 3.03% or 0.25 points to end at 8.49 and Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR) was up 2.55% or 0.29 points to 11.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY), which lost 14.21% or 0.57 points to trade at 3.44 in late trade. Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:BLDP) declined 6.12% or 0.35 points to end at 5.37 and Shopify Inc (TSX:SHOP) shed 5.44% or 4.62 points to 80.31.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 539 to 451 and 96 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 2.44% to 11.34.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 9.15 to $1,955.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.00% or 0.90 to hit $90.92 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.65 to trade at $94.58 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.03% to 0.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 104.75.
