Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Financials and REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Enerplus Corporation (TSX:ERF), which rose 10.42% or 0.27 points to trade at 2.86 at the close. Sleep Country Canada Holdings Inc (TSX:ZZZ) added 9.74% or 2.21 points to end at 24.90 and Inter Pipeline Ltd (TSX:IPL) was up 7.94% or 0.98 points to 13.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX:ACB), which lost 26.86% or 3.935 points to trade at 10.715 in late trade. Kinaxis Inc (TSX:KXS) declined 10.21% or 19.53 points to end at 171.74 and Jamieson Wellness Inc (TSX:JWEL) shed 6.62% or 2.63 points to 37.12.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 614 to 404 and 91 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.15% or 21.30 to $1875.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.53% or 1.02 to hit $41.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.74% or 1.16 to trade at $43.56 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.01% to 0.7689, while CAD/EUR fell 0.07% to 0.6502.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 92.670.
