Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Energy and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Dye & Durham Ltd (TSX:DND), which rose 12.50% or 1.35 points to trade at 12.15 at the close. Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML) added 6.45% or 0.14 points to end at 2.31 and CCL Industries Inc (TSX:CCLb) was up 5.26% or 2.84 points to 56.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which lost 5.32% or 2.73 points to trade at 48.61 in late trade. Osisko Gold Ro (TSX:OR) declined 5.24% or 0.92 points to end at 16.63 and IAMGold Corporation (TSX:IMG) shed 4.76% or 0.15 points to 3.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 543 to 409 and 117 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 4.19% to 14.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.66% or 12.75 to $1,950.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.80% or 1.39 to hit $78.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 1.33 to trade at $82.76 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.18% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 105.54.
