Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the REITs, Real Estate and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Osisko Mining Corp (TSX:OSK), which rose 14.87% or 0.40 points to trade at 3.09 at the close. Dye & Durham Ltd (TSX:DND) added 9.24% or 1.44 points to end at 17.02 and SilverCrest Metals Inc (TSX:SIL) was up 6.53% or 0.47 points to 7.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NexGen Energy Ltd. (TSX:NXE), which lost 4.74% or 0.25 points to trade at 5.02 in late trade. Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TSX:GOOS) declined 4.28% or 0.94 points to end at 21.02 and Cronos Group Inc (TSX:CRON) shed 3.73% or 0.15 points to 3.87.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 521 to 458 and 95 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 9.54% to 22.96.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.12% or 1.95 to $1,670.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.88% or 1.53 to hit $79.70 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.13% or 1.86 to trade at $85.32 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.89% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR fell 0.78% to 0.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 112.10.
