PARIS, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Vivendi's VIV.PA pay-TV business Canal Plus said on Wednesday it had secured the rights to distribute English Premier League soccer in several European territories for three years from the 2019/2020 season.
"Canal Plus is pleased to have won the distribution rights for the Premier League ... in several European territories," Canal Plus said in a statement.
Earlier, Altice's SFR said it had begun talks on Wednesday with Canal Plus aimed at a deal that would allow SFR's RMC Sport subscribers to watch Premier League matches on its platform.
It comes after Canal Plus and SFR reached an agreement in September for Canal Plus's subscribers to have access to all Champions League soccer matches distributed on RMC sport until 2021.
