Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 1.38% or 0.07 points to trade at 5.13 at the close. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) added 1.30% or 0.20 points to end at 15.55 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) was up 1.09% or 0.12 points to 11.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3), which lost 6.89% or 1.87 points to trade at 25.28 in late trade. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) declined 4.53% or 1.48 points to end at 31.16 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) shed 3.99% or 0.37 points to 8.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 276 to 109 and 28 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.38% to 33.71.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.89% or 11.49 to $1283.41 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.00% or 0.58 to hit $57.41 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.04% or 2.65 to trade at $132.32 .
USD/BRL was up 1.03% to 3.2458, while EUR/BRL rose 1.18% to 3.8490.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 93.16.
