Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.24% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3), which rose 7.25% or 3.33 points to trade at 49.28 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 6.72% or 0.68 points to end at 10.80 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) was up 6.56% or 0.84 points to 13.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which lost 10.03% or 4.96 points to trade at 44.49 in late trade. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 7.49% or 1.74 points to end at 21.50 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) shed 6.78% or 2.21 points to 30.38.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 257 to 177 and 34 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 9.84% to 35.11.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1303.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.50% or 0.33 to hit $65.62 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.08% or 1.25 to trade at $117.33 .
USD/BRL was down 5.24% to 3.7029, while EUR/BRL fell 5.47% to 4.3582.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.54.
