Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which rose 3.98% or 1.77 points to trade at 46.19 at the close. Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) added 3.48% or 0.43 points to end at 12.80 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) was up 2.75% or 1.46 points to 54.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which lost 4.46% or 1.23 points to trade at 26.37 in late trade. Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) declined 4.10% or 1.05 points to end at 24.57 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) shed 3.94% or 2.73 points to 66.52.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 275 to 179 and 31 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.54% to 32.32.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.19% or 2.40 to $1291.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $71.38 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.13% or 0.15 to trade at $118.12 .
USD/BRL was up 1.01% to 3.7348, while EUR/BRL rose 0.79% to 4.3938.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 93.59.
