Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 4.93% or 0.87 points to trade at 18.50 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 4.85% or 1.03 points to end at 22.27 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) was up 2.95% or 0.69 points to 24.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which lost 4.96% or 2.19 points to trade at 41.95 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 4.74% or 0.44 points to end at 8.84 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) shed 2.75% or 2.38 points to 84.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 246 to 213 and 41 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.39% to 52.28.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1203.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.46% or 1.88 to hit $74.53 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.28% or 0.30 to trade at $106.80 .
USD/BRL was down 0.58% to 3.8823, while EUR/BRL fell 0.25% to 4.4707.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 95.43.
