Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3), which rose 5.43% or 0.73 points to trade at 14.18 at the close. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 4.62% or 1.38 points to end at 31.28 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 4.30% or 0.71 points to 17.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which lost 1.95% or 0.24 points to trade at 12.06 in late trade. Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) declined 1.57% or 1.38 points to end at 86.30 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) shed 0.67% or 0.06 points to 8.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 251 to 172 and 26 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.98% to 31.25 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.10% or 1.30 to $1245.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.31% or 0.76 to hit $57.23 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.11% or 1.34 to trade at $118.88 .
USD/BRL was up 0.04% to 3.3063, while EUR/BRL fell 0.19% to 3.8820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.06.
