Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumption, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which rose 7.23% or 0.72 points to trade at 10.68 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 4.70% or 0.39 points to end at 8.69 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was up 4.69% or 0.43 points to 9.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which lost 2.13% or 0.61 points to trade at 27.97 in late trade. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 1.17% or 0.24 points to end at 20.20 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) shed 0.86% or 0.10 points to 11.53.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 256 to 161 and 23 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 11.38% to 34.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.50% or 18.30 to $1200.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.44% or 0.30 to hit $67.33 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.01% or 1.08 to trade at $105.92 .
USD/BRL was up 0.49% to 3.8844, while EUR/BRL rose 0.44% to 4.4305.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.16.
